Search Process

Phase I

We start with an in-person meeting with the client. The purpose is to develop a detailed position specification, learn about the culture of the organization, and agree on a customized search process.

The Position Specifications includes a description of the client and its services or products as well as geographic location of the position. The description also includes the position prerequisites, both absolutes and preferred, as well as a detailed listing of the duties and responsibilities. This is the blueprint for the search and is reviewed by the client prior to finalization.

Concurrently with the development of the Position Specifications, is a discussion regarding the mission and values of the organization. We focus on the culture and what type of individuals have been successful in their culture, as well as what type has not worked well.

Lastly, we develop a search strategy agreed upon by the client that involves what size, type and location of organizations we will target. We also focus on titles of individuals we will contact.

Phase II

The second phase of the search process involves the research (also referred to as name generation). This is developing a target list of companies and often, professional organizations that we will target, and through a variety of means, developing a list of names that can be anywhere from 100 to 500 potential candidates. This includes cold calling into organizations, research from our candidate database, and directories. The Recruiter then begins calling these individuals to determine if they are qualified and if they are interested in another opportunity.

Phase III

The third phase involves an in-person interview with the Consultant and the candidates presented by the Recruiter. The Consultant focuses on technical abilities and experience, as well as cultural fit with the client. If the candidate is assessed as a good match, a detailed assessment is forwarded to the client with an evaluation of both strengths and weaknesses versus the Position Specifications. Ideally, we strive for three to five candidates presented, but this may vary dependent upon the search.

Lastly, we assist as needed with interview and travel arrangements. We conduct thorough reference checks and educational verification. Our services also include assisting with the negotiation process to assure there are no surprises on either side.

We follow up with the candidate and client at regularly scheduled intervals to assure things are going well.
